September 14, 2004: Foxy Assaulted, Speaks Out In Radio Interview
During a September 14 interview with radio personality Wendy Williams, Foxy Brown shared the details of her assault and robbery at a New York City nightclub two days earlier. Brown explained that she was preparing to leave Kimora Lee Simmons’ Baby Phat after party at Show Nightclub when she was attacked in a restroom early Sunday. Around 12:45 a.m., a woman snatched Foxy’s $7,000 ostrich handbag and ripped a $250,000 diamond earring from her ear before fleeing the Times Square club and entering a subway station at 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue. Security guards followed the woman into the station, where she threw the handbag onto the tracks and managed to escape. Late in the afternoon, police arrested 35-year-old Tanya Manderson of Fort Greene, NY after another guest at the club identified her as the attacker. Though the earring was not recovered, Foxy told Williams that it was insured. The NY Daily News reports that Manderson was charged with robbery, grand larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property. Foxy discussed several other issues with Williams, including two recent NY Post gossip columns accusing Brown of behaving rudely at a Louis Vuitton shop and a nail salon. Foxy explained that both reports were false, and that Louis Vuitton had even issued a retraction that the Post declined to print. Brown also mentioned that she and Jay-Z have a great relationship, and that she is nearing completion on a new album.
