April 22, 2003: Foxy's Ill Na Na 2: The Fever Shelved Indefinitely During an April 16 appearance on The Wendy Williams Show in New York, Foxy announced that Def Jam/Bad Boy Records, joint owners of her recording contract, have shelved her upcoming fourth album, Ill Na Na 2: The Fever. Unable to settle contractual disputes with Bad Boy CEO P. Diddy, Foxy was told that her long awaited project, originally set for release in May, has been pushed back indefinitely. Foxy went on to tell Wendy that Def Jam CEO Lyor Cohen has refused to release Foxy from her contract, which entitles the label to four more albums. Other topics covered during the interview included her miscarriage and tumultuous relationship with boyfriend Spragga Benz. Foxy also addressed past and present issues with Jay-Z, Nas, Kurupt, and Eve. Several days after the interview, a rough cut of Ill Na Na 2: The Fever was leaked to the internet, further jeopardizing the album's release. Because of the great time needed to organize a promotional campaign, the earliest we can expect the album is by the year's end, if it is to be released at all. |
