April 11, 2005: Foxy Appears in Criminal Court Foxy Brown (pictured below) appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on April 11 to plead not guilty to misdemeanor assault and attempted assault charges stemming from an August 27, 2004 altercation with two workers at a Chelsea nail salon. According to the District Attorney's office, Brown allegedly punched and kicked Myoung Yi and Sun Ji Song of Bloomie Nails as they attempted to block her from leaving the store and entering her car following a payment dispute. Speaking to a New York Times reporter, Foxy didn't deny arguing with the women, but noted that the first police officer to arrive on the scene couldn't find any injuries on the supposed victims. Foxy explained that the manicurists tried to charge her for both a manicure and a pedicure when she had only received the latter. Joseph Tacopina, Foxy's attorney, said she had a receipt showing that she had paid for the pedicure. Criminal Court Judge Evelyn Laporte ordered Brown to stay away from the salon workers and return to court May 6. Foxy mentioned that she is "trying not to be deterred by any negativity" as she completes work on her upcoming fourth solo album. "Art of War," a buzz single from the as yet untitled album, has already hit radio, and samples the Jimi Hendrix classic "Foxy Lady." ![]() |
