March 3, 2001: Foxy Linked to NYC Shootout The ongoing feud between Foxy Brown and Lil’ Kim has been in the news lately. A shooting incident outside New York hip hop radio station Hot 97 on February 25th has been linked to the war between the two rap divas. It turns out that Lil’ Kim had just left the building when her posse was involved in a shooting match with the entourage of Kiam Holley (Capone of rap duo Capone-N-Noreaga), who was heading upstairs for an interview. At least 22 shots were fired from five guns, and one man was injured, police said. The whole incident is believed to have stemmed from harsh words exchanged by Foxy and Lil’ Kim. You may recall that Foxy’s verse on last summer’s CNN single "Bang Bang" was not-so-kindly directed at Lil’ Kim, in response to numerous disses as featured on her latest release, Notorious K.I.M. A tape from a security video camera shows Lil' Kim getting into a limousine that stopped moments later to pick up several of the suspected shooters. She and CNN have denied any involvement in the shooting. While Lil’ Kim, who was interviewed at her home the next day by police, and CNN have not released any statements pertaining to the shootout, Foxy Brown released the following statement on Thursday, March 1: "I was not involved in any way. I have absolutely no knowledge or understanding as to why such a senseless and violent act took place." The event has received considerable media coverage; Foxy Brown and Lil’ Kim were pictured on the front page of a major newspaper, the New York Daily News, and the following article was featured in the March 9 issue of the magazine Entertainment Weekly.
